Above Ground & Underground Pipeline Fabrication, Coating, Excavation & Backfilling

The general requirements of underground piping work which include the performance of all activities such as excavation work, backfilling, protective coating and wrapping.

Excavation

Excavation shall be done considering the safety of the work, whereby protective measure shall be taken to prevent side wall collapse which can cause accident to personnel.

Coating & Wrapping

Buried underground pipelines generally calls for external corrosion coatings with the following operations.

• Cleaning the pipe surface
• Priming by coal tar primer
• Coating by coal tar enamel
• Inner wrapping with glass fiber
• Outer wrap of kraft paper or equivalent (Serviwrap R30 & Serviwrap Primer AB)
• Holiday detection.
• Alternatively heat strink sleeves are also recommended

Backfill

When the works of backfill pipe are carried out protective measure shall be taken in consideration to prevent accident such as side wall collages, flooding of water etc., which can cause damage to pipe and injuries to personnel.
